Anne Ranasinghe was a Jewish-German poet born in Sri Lanka who wrote in English. She is considered to be one of Sir Lanka’s best English-language writers. Her first collection was published in 1971, titled And the Sun That Sucks The Earth to Dry. She died in 2016 at the age of 91.
