Henry Timrod

Henry Timrod is often referred to as the “poet laureate of the Confederacy.” His poetry was written in the mid-1800s and was inspired by the newly minted United States and the difficulties faced between the North and South. The vast majority of his verse is contained within a single collection published before the Civil War.
