James Tate

James Tate was an American poet born in Kansas City, Missouri. Throughout his career, he authored over 20 poetry collections and won numerous awards for his work. These include the National Book Award, the William Carlos Williams Award, and more. 

The Lost Pilot

‘The Lost Pilot’ is dedicated to James Tate’s father, who died on a bombing mission in World War II in 1944. He was a co-pilot of a B-17.
