Read morePaul Celan was a Romanian poet born in 1920. In the late 1930s in Paris, he studied medicine before returning to Romania during World War II. His parents were deported by the Nazis to concentration camps, where they passed away, and he escaped from a labor camp himself. He was fluent and six languages and spent some of his career translating. He’s best known for ‘Death Fugue.’
