Petrarch is one of the most important poets in the history of world literature. He was born Francesco Petrarca on July 1304 and is remembered as a poet and scholar. Not only was he an important figure, he is also cited as having started the Italian Renaissance in the 14th century when he discovered Cicero’s letters.
